Many farm shops and supermarkets stock pumpkins in the lead-up to Halloween, however, pumpkin patches are getting more popular. They are a huge autumn activity in the USA with a visit to a pumpkin patch being an annual family tradition. There are often photo opportunities and props as well as autumn-themed activities.

Hatter’s Farm

💻Hatters Farm Pumpkins

Hatter’s Farm has a pick-your-own pumpkin patch. Tickets for daytime pumpkin picking cost between £2-4 per person, and under 2s are free. Tickets include entrance to a themed indoor maze and the Field of Fun.

There are a couple of other activities that cost extra, such as a maize maze for £3.50pp and a pumpkin canon which costs £2.50 for one shot. ‘Pumpkin Nights’ are available on selected days and are £5 a ticket.

Dogs are allowed at Hatters Farm Pumpkins, but not in the pumpkin field and they must be kept on a lead. Portaloos are available on-site.

Hurleys Pumpkin Forest

💻Pumpkin Forest

Hurleys Pumpkin Forest is located in Battlesbridge near South Woodham Ferrers. Entrance is £10 per car (up to 6 people) with pumpkins, squashes and gourds costing extra (mostly between £1-£5). Each car has access to a wheelbarrow to help with carrying any pumpkins.

Along with the pumpkin patch, they have a range of activities such as a maze, pumpkin bowling and a rope swing.

Also near South Woodham Ferrers is the Pumpkin Picking Village, near down to March Farm Animal Adventure Park. There is a range of different events throughout October, with the entrance to the Pumpkin Village costing from £2.99-£5.99 per person (plus a 50p booking fee online).

Pumpkins cost extra and are priced between £3 – £100.

The Pumpkin Village Nights on selected dates have fun fair rides as well as photo ops. There are also some dates and times that are ‘dog friendly’, for those that want to take their dog pumpkin picking too!

Please note that Pumpkin Picking Village is a cashless venue and entrance to the pumpkin patch does not include entry to Marsh Farm.

Foxes Farm Produce

💻Foxes Farm Produce

Foxes Farm Produce has 2 pumpkin patches in Essex, one in Basildon and a second in Colchester. They are open on weekends throughout October and during the October half-term week. Entrance is £5 per person with pumpkins costing between £2 – £12.

There are various games, photo opportunities, food stalls, and a face painter. Tickets must be pre-booked online in advance.

Like with the nature of many pick-your-own farms, they do suggest going early in the season. Depending on the amount of visitors, they may run out of pumpkins, but they will try to stay open until Halloween.

Otto’s Pumpkin Patch

💻Otto’s Pumpkin Patch

Otto’s Pumpkin Patch first opened in 2022. Pre-booking a time slot online is required. Adult entrance is £4 and children between 2-16yrs are £2. There are trailer rides on selected days, lots of photo opportunities, a decorated ‘faraway forest’ with a quiz, games area and a giant art board.

Refreshments are available but the only toilet facilities are a Portaloo. Pumpkins and squashes cost between £2-£12.

Cammas Hall Farm

💻Cammas Hall Farm

Cammas Hall Farm is located around 5 miles from Stansted Airport. The Pumpkin Patch and Halloween Experience have a variety of activities such as photo opportunities, a Terror Tunnel, and a Wicked Walkway! Pumpkins and entrance to the maize maze are an additional cost.

Entrance to the pumpkin patch costs £4-6 per person (2yrs+). Tickets must be prebooked in advance. Alternatively, if you just want to buy a pre-picked pumpkin, the entrance to the farm shop is free and items can be purchased in there.
