London Stansted (STN)

London Stansted (airport code: STN) is the biggest airport in Essex. There’s a range of different airlines that fly to Stansted with Ryanair and Jet2 having the most departing flights. Many of the airlines only service European destinations, but Emirates operates direct flights to Dubai, where you can get connections to many places in Africa, Asia, and Australia.

It is located in the north of Essex, just off the M11. The Stansted Express train runs to London Liverpool Street and it is also connected via buses and coaches.

It has several parking options, my personal favourite is the mid-stay car park for location and price. Here you’ll also find free drop off and pick up. There is a fee to drop off outside the terminal, however, you can park for free in the mid-stay for 1 hour and travellers can take the shuttle bus to and from the terminal.

London Southend (SEN)

London Southend is the smaller for the 2 international airports in Essex. Currently, only EasyJet fly from Southend, offering summer routes to Spain and Portugal (Amsterdam is expected to come soon).

The best way to reach London Southend Airport is either by car or by train. It has its own station with trains to Shenfield and London Liverpool Street.
