There are lots of beach huts around the Essex coast. Most of them are owned permanently by their owners, so getting to have a holiday in one is only possible if you rent one. Beach hut popularity has continued to grow over the last decade. They have come far since the days they were on wheels in the Victorian era, used for the privacy of lady and gent swimmers as the etiquette at that time demanded. How times have changed! Nowadays, they offer a great day out for families because of their easy access to the beach and sea, giving shelter with amenities to make sandwiches and tea, on those gorgeous or a little cloudy summer days. Think of them as a little home from home. In the Victorian times doctors prescribed the beach as a treatment for physical and mental wellbeing. Ask those who have a beach hut and I am sure they will agree with that.

Story and History of Huts 

The two beach huts have been a treasure and belonged to the family for over 50 years.  We have watched the Clacton-on-Sea to Holland-on-Sea seafront change and grow with us over the years, from its black and white postcard picture days. Very recently, after a lottery win of local funding to refurbish the seafront, this has meant completely bigger beaches with fresh sand and sea defences that allow for safe paddling pools and new ramps for disabled accessibility, at the cost of millions of pounds, amazing. The beach hut always makes us feel like a child again even if we have all grown up.

When we first bought these two beach huts one was completely run down and looking for some TLC. After renovating it and bringing it back to life we named the beach hut `Phoenix`, due to its past and being born again. The beach hut now gives back, whenever I am looking to be restored, the hut will do that for my soul. 

The other beach hut is called `Caribbean Blue` inspired by the song of the same name by Enya, and has been in my family for about 20 years. We have maintained it till now and it has grown and evolved with us, offering more now than ever before. We have learned the best methods of having a great day at the beach through our own and others experience. Both are painted in our favourite brand colours of vibrant yellow, white and blue.

What’s Included? Decor and Inventory

The decor in each hut is fun and very beach positive we have collected shells to look at. As well as other fun details like our popular `Beach Rules` picture, that has become very popular, it is like our own beach philosophy. Our favourite rule being `be grateful for this day`.  We have been running the huts for some time now, we know what is needed for a great day at the beach all the accessories are accounted for and fully equipped:

Great Position Near Clacton-on-Sea

The beach huts are wonderful inside but thinking bigger, the placing is its best feature overall. You step out and the beach is in front of you. Close enough to Clacton-on-Sea to use the pier, but far away enough to avoid the packed overcrowded beaches in the summer holidays. We even have a little train that takes you all the way to Clacton and back – express!

We are below the nicest restaurant in Holland-on-Sea; `The Kingscliff`, which has won local awards for its excellence. It is part hotel, so if you want to spend long days with no driving back and forth, just rent a room and stay over night. It also has free Wifi to use your laptop during the day.  

If you are looking for something a little less expensive than the hotel, there is a fish and chip shop just down the road and Flags cafe a minute walk from the hut on the seafront. There is a shop a minute walk for sweets, milk, sandwiches, and a Co-Op shop down the road for everything you will need. The toilets and water tap are a 20 meter walk away and there is a disabled access ramp before that. Free parking is available directly above on Kings Parade.

Rental Rules

We have some rules you will find with any beach hut rental. No overnight stays or smoking inside the beach hut. The Hut should be left in a clean and tidy condition and swept out prior to departure. Cleaning equipment and products are provided for that purpose. Barbecues are not allowed inside the beach hut and must be cooked a distance from the hut. Please check gas is turned of at the source.

Location and Parking 

Use your sat nav to get to the Kingscliff Hotel, a local famous landmark. Walk to beach hut using the concrete accessibility ramp, down past the toilet onto the seafront, heading straight on directly below the hotel. We are a few beach huts along and you are there 40 and 39c! Hazelmere car park is a minute walk along the front, towards Clacton.

Booking Your Day

Instead of having a key to open padlocks, we have a numbered padlock system, so you can come and go as you wish. The number is given to you on booking. Far easier than having to pick the key up and drop it off at certain times. There is a limit of 6 people per hut and 8 including pets. We have the rights to ask you to leave if we find an excess of guests.

💰All year round there is a £50 a day rental price and we accept payments via cash in hand or bank transfer.  Payments are required in full at the time of booking. (*Price correct as of March 2023)

📅We are open 7 days a week, 12 months a year if you want to book. 

🕚Check-in times are High Season: 8am-6pm and Low Season: 9am-5pm.
